Helping organizations fly on their own.

Founded in 1983, The Windhover Foundation fuels organizations that focus on meeting a pressing, unfilled social need. Seed money is given with the confident expectation that the organization will soon fly on its own. The Foundation has funded a variety of ventures including hospices, women’s programs, art centers, libraries, playgrounds, parks and arenas.

The foundation follows specific grant outlines when evaluating applications. It often chooses to support charities in the communities where Quad/Graphics has a presence. To apply for a foundation gift, applicants should provide the following information with the proposal summarized in a concise letter:

• A brief description of the organization, including its purpose, goals and objectives.
• The amount of funding requested, its proposed use, the duration of any project/program
  and the date by which the funds are needed.
• Confirmation of the organization's IRS federal tax exemption status.

As a policy, The Windhover Foundation does not grant gifts toward:

• Events, leagues or clubs, or sponsoring any individuals or teams participating in any type of event, league or club (e.g., sponsoring teams on sports leagues, providing funds toward equipment purchases, sponsoring individuals or teams in various walks and runs, etc.)
• Fundraising events
• Projects deemed to be purely religious or sectarian in nature
• Scholarships (The Windhover Foundation provides for scholarships, but they are limited to the college-bound children of Quad/Graphics employees.)
