Forest certification
Building on its role as a leader in environmentally sound printing practices, Quad/Graphics has certifications from the world's three leading forest management programs: the Forest Stewardship Council™ (FSC®), Sustainable Forestry Initiative® (SFI) and the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC™).
Quad/Graphics was the first national commercial printer to receive chain-of-custody certification from the FSC in 2004 and, now, with the SFI and PEFC certifications, Quad/Graphics vastly expands the pool of forest-certified paper suppliers from which its clients can choose.
FSC, SFI and PEFC are the world’s leading independent, nonprofit, nongovernment organizations devoted to the responsible management of the world’s forests. To gain forestry certification from these groups, companies must submit to a rigorous third-party audit of purchasing practices and control systems.
Quad/Graphics successfully demonstrated its ability to meet these strict compliance requirements in multiple areas, including chain of custody – a measure to track wood through the supply chain, from a certified forest through the end-user of the certified product.
