Earning awards and accolades.

Quad/Graphics is routinely recognized for our entrepreneurial spirit, innovative management philosophies, environmental efforts, educational programs and family-friendly benefits. The following are some of the most recent awards and accolades our company is proud to have earned.

Renowned employer
For his visionary leadership in the printing and publishing industries, Quad/Graphics President & CEO Joel Quadracci received IDEAlliance's David G. Jensen Award in early 2009. The award, which is bestowed only when merited, recognizes individuals who have served, inspired, and motivated the publishing industry to meet new and evolving challenges. As a recipient, Mr. Quadracci is recognized for vision "beyond himself and an ability to promote change for the betterment of the industry."

Quad/Graphics has been named Newsweek's Printer of the Year for the past 24 consecutive years. The coveted distinction is based on final product quality, paper consumption, turnaround times and equipment speeds.

Healthcare leadership
When it comes to employees, Quad/Graphics' benefits are exemplary, particularly when it comes to health and wellness.

Quad/Graphics is a recipient of the prestigious Corporate Health Achievement Award (CHAA) for leadership in health and safety management. Presented by the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, the CHAA assesses companies on key wellness criteria and is only awarded when merited.

In 2009, Quad/Graphics received the "Start! Fit-Friendly" award from the American Heart Association, Platinum Level, for our myriad initiatives that promote a healthy lifestyle.

Our healthcare model was featured in the book The Innovator’s Prescription: A Disruptive Solution for Health Care (New York: McGraw-Hill, 2009), where authors Clayton M. Christensen, Jerome H. Grossman M.D. and Jason Hwang M.D. advocate for CEO leadership in fixing healthcare.

Enviro excellence
Quad/Graphics' progressive environmental policies regularly receive attention.

In 2009, we became the first major commercial printer to achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification for an existing manufacturing plant. Our 25-year-old Sussex, Wis., printing plant earned LEED certification, Silver rating, from the U.S. Green Building Council for our efforts to conserve energy and water, recycle waste, provide incentives for employees to carpool and more.

Print industry news portal WhatTheyThink selected Quad/Graphics as winner in its first-ever Environmental Innovation Awards. Presented on Earth Day 2009, the awards were billed by WhatTheyThink as "going beyond certification" to recognize companies "making real and concrete contributions to innovation, implementation and communications of environmental solutions." Quad/Graphics won in the Environmental Sustainability and Your Plant category.

Quad/Graphics appears on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) Top 20 Printers List of the largest green power purchasers in the commercial printing business. Quad/Graphics purchases nearly 3 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of green power annually -- the equivalent to avoiding the carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions of nearly 400 passenger vehicles per year, or the equivalent of electricity needed to power nearly 300 average American homes annually.

According to a landmark research study by InfoTrends and Graphic Arts Monthly published in mid- 2008, Quad is among the Top 5 print industry brands associated with sustainability.
