Production. This is your opportunity to enhance your skills working with the industry’s most advanced printing equipment within our Press and Finishing Departments. Our Press department offers a high quality printing service to our customers, providing a range of products from digest to tabloid, long runs and short runs, as well as direct mail pieces and other customization. The Finishing department, where individual pages get bound into complete magazines and catalogs, offers clients a variety of capabilities to advance the most complex marketing ideas, including stitching, binding, polywrapping and personalization. Our Finishing technicians also perform sophisticated mail processing (i.e., co-mailing) that saves clients valuable time and money.

Opportunities include on-the-job and/or technical classroom training. Entry-level duties may consist of continuous stacking and sorting of product at the end of the production line, general cleaning of the production area and monitoring supplies needed. All positions require the ability to lift 10-15 pounds continuously, the ability to lift up to 70 pounds occasionally, stand long hours, use hands and wrists continuously in controlled movement, receive and follow instructions and use vision in order to identify defects (with or without a reasonable accommodation).

We offer the following entry level options.

• Full-time. These positions require the flexibility to work a rotating schedule of three- and four-day workweeks in 12-hour shifts, including days, nights, weekends and holidays.
• Part-time. You can choose the shift(s) you’ll work. Shift options include days, nights, weekends and holidays. Work schedule consists of 12 hour shifts and requires a minimum of 12 hours per week. Some plants and departments offer additional flexibility.

Our Corporate Training Program is an intensive training program for selected college graduates that involves 18 months to three years of learning our business from the ground up. Rotations through manufacturing and administrative departments afford trainees hands-on experience. Corporate trainees graduate into the positions that suit their long-term interests.

In Wisconsin, you can also start your Quad career while you’re still in technical school with our School-to-Work Program. It’s hands-on, real-world experience that could turn into a great position with our company.

Get your print career off to a great start.

Quad/Graphics’ School-to-Work program offers hands-on, real-world experience with one of the world’s most successful printing companies. You can learn the prepress process in a production environment. Work with pacesetting print technology in our press area. Learn from hands-on experience with electronic and automated equipment in finishing. And understand how materials move from receipt through shipment in our distribution area. Once you’ve earned your associate degree in printing and completed our program, you’ll have the opportunity to enter our fast-track training program. This will prepare you for higher-level opportunities in the Quad/Graphics’ production environment. You can also earn tuition reimbursement!

Make it happen

• You must be enrolled in a two-year print program at a local technical college and have completed your first year of classes.
• Successfully complete our interview and pre-employment processes.
• You’ll be required to work 12-hour shifts for a 36-hour workweek during summer break. Starting your fall semester, your work hours will be reduced to accommodate your school schedule.

Established in 1983, the program gives select individuals the opportunity to learn the business from the ground up as they work to find their special niche within our company. It's been the backbone of the company's growth; Corporate Training Program alums today serve as leaders in all areas of our operations. Hundreds of managers and senior executives – and even our president & CEO – got their start in our Corporate Training Program.

How the program works
If you're invited to join our Corporate Training Program, hang on to your seat! You'll spend a whirlwind period of 18 months to three years or more rotating through a series of hands-on, fast-paced learning experiences across the company, in both our production and administrative departments. No two corporate trainees follow the same path, but they all learn the fundamentals of how we put ink on paper.

As you rotate through different departments and different locations, you'll not only learn the basics, you'll also learn to connect the dots and see the whole. You’ll discover talents and strengths that you didn’t even know you possessed. And you’ll form relationships with fellow trainees, trainee alums and others that you’ll rely on during your career.

The fine print
The following is required of Corporate Training Program candidates:

• A bachelor’s degree or greater. Our trainees come from diverse educational backgrounds, but degrees in printing or publishing, business, marketing, communications, finance, foreign languages, industrial technology or operations management are preferred. 
• A GPA of 3.0 or greater (on a 4-point scale).  
• Adaptability. For up to 6 months, Corporate Trainees pursue hands-on, on-the-job training on our manufacturing floors, working our 12-hour shifts, 3 or 4 days per week, including every other weekend. A portion of this manufacturing training may also be on the night shift.
• Flexibility. You may be required to relocate to any of our locations nationwide for periods of
  6 months to 1 year or more.

The following is preferred:

• Related work history in sales, customer service, printing or publishing, or management.
• Involvement and leadership in extra-curricular campus activities, non-profit organizations or involvement in sports.
• Study abroad experiences or ability to speak multiple languages.

What to expect when you apply
If you're interested in joining Quad/Graphics' Corporate Training Program, the first step is to apply and submit your resume online. After that, we'll ask you to submit your college transcripts, which you can do by email or mail. Candidates who meet our criteria will be put through a series of phone interviews with current trainees who have an active role in our recruiting process. Following those interviews, selected candidates will be asked to travel to our Wisconsin headquarters to meet and interview with our program managers before ultimately sitting for a final interview with our vice president charged with executive oversight for the program.

Retirement resources: 401(k) and profit sharing

• Profit sharing. Our company-contributed profit-sharing plan helps employees prepare for retirement and become company owners. A portion of an employee's profit-sharing account may be used to purchase Quad/Graphics common stock, with the opportunity to acquire an ownership interest in the company. Employees may self-direct the cash portion of the profit-sharing account. Vesting is based on years of service.
• 401(k). Through this optional savings plan, employees can contribute up to 50% of their income (within IRS-set limits) before-tax to a 401(k) account and/or after-tax to a Roth 401(k) account. Quad/Graphics matches a portion of the election (30 cents on the dollar up to 6%).
