Earth-Friendly Polywrap When mailers and publishers consider going green they usually think of paper and ink first. But the other side of the equation is plastic, specifically the poly film that wraps many magazines and mail packages for protection and aesthetics.
Quad/Graphics now has a new option - and an industry first - for those who want to go greener yet: Earth Flex (TM) Poly, a 100 percent biodegradable and compostable polywrap. Unlike pure petroleum-based polywrap, Earth Flex's naturally inorganic material biodegrades quickly and safely in municipal composting sites. Under proper compostable conditions, this unique poly film breaks down in about 180 days, a rate consistent with other compostable materials. Earth Flex Poly also differs from petroleum-based products in that it leaves no visible, distinguishable or toxic residue to harm the environment. Earth Flex Poly is certified by the Biodegradable Products Institute.
Earth Flex Poly is suited to polywrapping single books and available in the same cut-off sizes as petroleum-based polywrap. Earth Flex Poly qualifies as postal acceptable and automatable by the USPS. Ink-jetted labels or application of a pre-addressed label is required.
